Our Work

We support programs that invest in the physical, social, and cultural wellbeing of Pacific Islanders.

Hapi Health Initiative - Funded by the Atherton Family Foundation through the 2022 Foundation Grant.

In 2023, we launched the HAPI Health Equity Program to advance the health and wellbeing of Pacific Islanders in Hawaiʻi. This program focuses on addressing health inequities within our Pacific Islander communities by offering culturally relevant training. These trainings and workshops empowered Pacific Islanders with the knowledge and skills to advocate for their own health and the wellbeing of their families. The HAPI Health Program focused on two programs on Oahu:

First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification:

Partnering with a Red Cross Affiliate Instructor – we successfully certified 50 individuals and sponsored one adult to complete their CPR instructor certification. These certifications not only equip youth in multigenerational homes with life-saving skills but also enhance their job prospects.

Advanced Care Directive Workshops:

Partnering with Kokua Mau, we helped elders and families navigate important medical care planning through sessions at Kuhio Park Terrace and the Community Learning Center in Māʻili. The workshops covered creating and submitting advanced care directives, guided by an instructor, and addressed the often-challenging conversations around end-of-life care plans.
To ensure accessibility, HAPI provided lunch, $25 gift cards, and translation support by contracting Samoan, Tongan, Chuukese, and Pohnpeian Community Health Workers. This allowed every family to fully participate and have their questions answered.
